‘Hurricane vocals’, daring fashion, big hair, saavy business sense and tantalizing stage performance skills. Raye 6 is the perfect example that a woman can have it all and do it all when you’re focused on what you want.
@TokyoTwilighter : How many times have you been to Japan?
@Raye6 : Two times.
@TokyoTwilighter : Tell us how the latest trip came around.
@Raye 6 : Same as last year, through Jon Lynch who is the creator of Japan Music Week. This year Jon proposed a sponsorship deal, we negotiated and I accepted his best offer. Marlboro Japan was the primary sponsor this year and they used 2 of my singles ‘Universal Lover’ & ‘Misstery’ available on Itunes. You can also go onto the Marlboro jp site to download my music.
@TokyoTwilighter : What was the most memorable part about your trip?
@Raye6 : Hanging out with some of the most beautiful people in Japan! I wrote about it on my blog on http://raye6.com/?p=324 . I got to connect with DeeJays, producers, label owners, directors, photographers, make up artists, writers and more! It was a beautifully creative trip!
@TokyoTwilighter : Did you learn any Japanese words or customs?
@Raye6 : Only cross the street when the light turns red, KAMPAI! (cheers), HAI (yes), Sumimasen (excuse me)
@TokyoTwilighter : Where was the best place to party/perform?
@Raye6 : Best place to party is Micro Cosmos, best place to perform was all of them! Nippori for the GUNGNIR Skate event, Glad, Unit. I love everything about the venues and the promoters of the events.
@TokyoTwilighter : What did you eat while in Japan?
@Raye6 : I ate a lot of croissants and water from a bakery in Mark City in Shibuya, Seafood Curry from Shantay (DELICiOUS), I had Japanese pancakes at Micro Cosmos and it was like biting into heaven!
@TokyoTwilighter : Where did you go shopping and what did you buy?
@Raye6 : I went shopping at Don Quixote they have everything! I went to find gifts for my family and friends. That place is like a drug store, beauty supply, macy’s, kmart, and fao schwartz all in one! I made a detour into 109 and damn near lost my mind! So many floors full of so many things! A girls paradise! I couldn’t decide what to buy so I bought nothing lol!!!
@TokyoTwilighter : Any regrets about this trip?
@Raye6 : I regret I couldn’t stay longer! I know I can accomplish so many things in Japan but I’ll be back again and again and each time will be magical!
@TokyoTwilighter : What is the biggest challenge regarding performing in Japan compared to the US?
@Raye6 : No challenge, I perform with nothing but passion anywhere I perform. You get what you put out!
@TokyoTwilighter : How was the reaction to your music in Japan?
@Raye6 : People were excited and in aww. I’m a bit of a shocker on and off stage and they love it!
@TokyoTwilighter : Are you planning another trip back to Japan?
@Raye6 : The next trip will be sometime in June so I can cover more ground. Between GOD, my relationships in Japan and my work ethic, I will be on the Official “Welcome To Universe 6 Tour”
@TokyoTwilighter : What do you definitely want to do next time that you didn’t get to do this time?
@Raye6 : Shop for me! I need a $2000.00 USD budget to rip a mini hole in 109!
@TokyoTwilighter : Any words for your fans in Tokyo?
Passion is Universal
It has no skin color, no religion, nor does it have bias
I’ve witnessed in my many years on this planet
people’s passion for food, love, music, war, work and more
A passion to live is a common goal we possess as humans
My trip to Japan showed me once again my passion for living
To take it all in
I have a Passion for life
To that I say KamPai! Cheers to you all! I will always have a PASSION for Japan
